NORTHEAST (WPVI) —
There were plenty of hugs and thank yous in a Northeast Philadelphia Walmart Monday.
“God bless them. God bless them!” said Roberta Williams of Germantown. “It’s wonderful what they are doing for the people.”
The secret santas are twin NBA stars Marcus and Markieff Morris.
Marcus plays for the Boston Celtics and Markeiff for the Washington Wizards.
Their basketball schedules did not permit them to deliver their gifts in person, but they sent their elves, led by their mom Thomasine Morris.
“It’s a blessing to be able to give people anything,” she said.
Customers lining up for the store’s final day for layaways learned the surprise while in line: the Morris twins spent $6000 toward customer’s Christmas gifts.
The twins could’ve picked anywhere to play Santa, with one playing in Washington D.C. and the other in Boston, but they picked the Walmart on Adams Avenue in the Northeast.
“Even though we play in Boston, even though we play in Washington, Philly is still our family,” said Thomasine Morris.
For six years the twins have played in the NBA, but they began at Prep Charter, raised by their single mom in North Philadelphia
